Frequently Asked QuestionsReturn to Top

Q. Can you listen to music while using the Pedometer application?
A. Yes, absolutely. The music playing on your iPhone or iPod touch will continue playing while using the Pedometer. You can bring up the iPod controls within the Pedometer by double-clicking the home button.

Q. When do the steps reset?
A. The step totals are tracked daily by the Pedometer, and reset at midnight. You can view your daily totals for previous days from the History screen.

Q. Can I reset the Pedometer manually?
A. You can use the "Timed" mode of the Pedometer to manually track your sessions, which could include multiple sessions each day. Every session will be tracked in the history along with your daily totals.

Q. Why don't the steps start counting right away when I first use the Pedometer?
A. The Pedometer will wait a few steps after a period of inactivity before adding them to your totals. This helps to ensure the accuracy of your step totals by avoiding false steps. Don't worry, these steps will be counted once the Pedometer determines that you are walking.

Q. Do I have to worry about the Pedometer going to sleep and not counting my steps?
A. Nope. The Pedometer will not go to sleep on its own, but it will dim the screen to conserve the battery.

Q. What does the Lock button on the Pedometer screen do?
A. This prevents the Pedometer screen from registering inadvertant touches, which could be a problem if the iPhone was in your pocket, for example. To unlock the screen, slide the button across the bottom of the screen, just like you would to unlock the iPhone itself.

Q. If I use the iPhone's lock button will my steps still be counted?
A. The iPhone and iPod touch do not currently allow third-party apps like the Pedometer to run while the screen is locked, so the Pedometer will have to be active to count steps.

Q. I have a suggestion for the Pedometer application, where can I send it?
A. Feel free to email us at with any feedback you might have.
